IndepenDesk is a desktop management utility for Windows, published by harungecit, that brings macOS-style independent virtual desktop behavior to multi-monitor setups. The software replicates the "Displays have separate Spaces" concept from macOS by giving every connected monitor its own distinct set of virtual desktops, rather than sharing a single global desktop state across all displays. When a user switches desktops, only the monitor currently under the mouse cursor is affected, leaving the contents of all other monitors untouched. This makes IndepenDesk a relevant tool in the virtual desktop and window management category, particularly for professionals, developers, and power users who work with several monitors and want finer control over how windows and workspaces are organized per screen. Among its features are per-monitor dynamic desktop counts, allowing each display to have a different number of desktops as needed, as well as global desktop numbering for consistent orientation across the system. The software also provides macOS-style slide animations when changing desktops, a Mission Control-like overview that supports drag and drop for moving windows between desktops and monitors, and touchpad gesture integration for fluid navigation. The user interface is available in eight languages, broadening accessibility for international users. The current release is version 0.4.0, and the software has had two published versions to date, indicating an early-stage project that is actively being developed. By combining independent per-monitor desktops, visual transitions, gesture support, and an overview mode, IndepenDesk aims to offer Windows users a virtual desktop experience comparable to the Spaces functionality long available on macOS, while remaining independent of the operating system's built-in virtual desktop behavior.
